I've got a LSR/CRF and I've been wondering how hard and how expensive it would be to put a YZ450 engine in it. I've always liked Yamaha's better, and from what I've heard I think the YZ450 motor would be more to my liking. Do any of you know how hard it would be to put a YZ engine in a LSR/CRF hybrid? I'm pretty sure I could buy new front motor mounts, head stay, and spacers for the swing arm. But, what about the bottom motor mount that is made into the frame? I've read where some guys have went from YZ426 engines to YZ450's and it wasn't too bad, so it got me to thinking. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Grant

Hey, ive never done the conversion like that before(got me thinking now though......) but i would think with some modification its possibile. The frame is def. gonna be big enough for it, but new motor mounts are a def. engine/swingarm pivot bushings will need to be machined, and i would say the bottom frame mount and headstay would have to be refabbed. Also dont forget the oil tank and different exhaust. If your ever around DE, just drop her off and ill make her right I think you will be ALOT happier with the yz450 engine. Justin

I'm pretty sure that on LSR no link hybrids, you can just buy the spacers for the swingarm/engine. And I think I could just buy front motor mounts and a headstay from LSR. I talked to a guy that had a LSR/YZ, he's trying to sell me his YZ450 dirtbike that he put the motor back in after he parted out the quad. He said he never ran a headstay on his hybrid but I don't think I want to do that. Just seems like to me that would lead to breaking motor mounts.
But like I said in my post on exriders about it, I'm thinking of selling it or parting it out and starting over on a YFZ. I can't make up my mind.

Running with no headstay isnt a bright idea at all, you WILL break motor mounts, trust me...... And you will feel more vibration without a headstay, do it right, run a headstay..
